Germantown struck early and finished strong Wednesday night at Germantown High School, defeating Callaway 2–0 in a cold, demanding matchup as temperatures dipped into the low 30s.

Germantown opened the scoring roughly 15 minutes into the match, capitalizing on early momentum and sustained pressure. The Red Devils stayed aggressive throughout the first half, moving quickly in possession and consistently testing the Callaway goalkeeper.

Despite conceding early, Callaway’s defense remained composed. Entering the match with a 9–1 record, the Chargers showed strong defensive organization and put together several quality stretches of ball movement, limiting Germantown’s chances to extend the lead before halftime. The first half ended with Germantown holding a 1–0 advantage.

The second half became more physically demanding as the cold intensified. Callaway increased its attacking pressure in search of the equalizer, creating several scoring opportunities but coming up short in front of goal.

Germantown eventually broke through again, sneaking in a well-placed chip shot from close range—about five feet from the goal—to double the lead. The second goal shifted momentum, and Callaway struggled to regain energy in the closing minutes.

From there, Germantown managed the match effectively, maintaining defensive discipline and controlling possession to close out the shutout and secure the 2–0 victory.

The win marked Germantown’s seventh of the season, improving the Red Devils to 7–9, while also handing Callaway just its second loss of the year. Germantown’s ability to remain aggressive offensively and organized defensively stood out in a result that could carry momentum as the season continues.
